Independent Celebrant
Words that honour life.
Celebrate love.
Create lasting memories.
Bespoke wedding, funeral and life ceremonies — written entirely from scratch by Jodie Birch. Quietly trusted across Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Liverpool.

A word from Jodie
I believe a ceremony should feel like nothing else on earth — because no one else on earth is quite like you.
I'm Jodie. For more than six years I've been writing and delivering personal ceremonies for the families who trust me with their most important days. I'm a mother of two, and I've known grief myself — which is why compassion, listening, and being genuinely present matter more to me than anything.
Writing isn't just part of my work. It's who I am. I spend the time it takes to capture personalities, memories and quiet, ordinary truths — so every ceremony feels completely authentic, and unmistakably yours.

The Eternal Kindness Promise
No one should be turned away from a dignified farewell.
If a family is facing genuine hardship and longs to give a loved one the farewell they deserve, I will always do everything I reasonably can to help. Quietly. Without judgement. With the same care I bring to every ceremony.
Read the promiseIn their own words
Stories from the families I've walked alongside.
Jodie wrote the ceremony for my mam's funeral. She listened for hours, then gave back our mam in her own words. People are still talking about it.
Our woodland wedding was magic and Jodie was the heart of it. She captured us perfectly — we cried, we laughed, we felt completely seen.
A rare gift. Calm, kind, deeply thoughtful. The eulogy she wrote for my dad is something the whole family will keep forever.

From the North East to Merseyside — and beyond.
Based in North East England, with regular travel to Merseyside. Further afield is always welcome — just ask.
All locationsWhat does a celebrant do?+
A celebrant designs and leads a bespoke ceremony — weddings, funerals, namings, vow renewals and more — written entirely around the people at its heart.
Can ceremonies include religious content?+
Yes. Many of my ceremonies blend religious readings, hymns or prayers alongside personal words. Your beliefs, your way.
Can we write our own vows?+
Absolutely. I'll guide you, gently, and weave your words into the ceremony so everything flows beautifully.
How much notice do you need?+
For weddings I usually take bookings six to eighteen months in advance. For funerals I do everything I can to help at short notice.
Can ceremonies be outdoors?+
Yes — woodlands, gardens, country estates, beaches and family homes are all welcome. Outdoor ceremonies are some of my favourites.
Can you travel?+
I cover the whole of the North East and Merseyside as standard, and I'm happy to travel further afield by arrangement.
