Getting started

What does a celebrant do?+

A celebrant designs and leads a bespoke ceremony — weddings, funerals, namings, vow renewals and more — written entirely around the people at its heart.

How do I begin?+

Send a few lines via the contact page. We'll book a relaxed, no-pressure call to talk through what you're imagining.

How much notice do you need?+

Weddings are usually booked six to eighteen months in advance. For funerals I do everything I can to help at short notice.

How much does it cost?+

Each service page lists a starting investment. Final pricing depends on travel, complexity and the bespoke writing involved — always quoted clearly, never with surprises.

For the happiest days.

Weddings & vow renewals

Can we write our own vows?+

Absolutely. I'll guide you, gently, and weave your words into the ceremony so everything flows beautifully on the day.

Can ceremonies be outdoors?+

Yes — woodlands, gardens, country estates, beaches and family homes are all welcome. Outdoor ceremonies are some of my favourites.

Do you handle the legal paperwork?+

The legal marriage is registered separately at a register office. I lead the full ceremony at your chosen venue — written entirely around the two of you.

How long are wedding ceremonies?+

Most run around 25–35 minutes. We'll shape it together so it suits you and your guests.

Held with care, never rushed.

Funerals & memorials

How quickly can you arrange a funeral?+

I'll make space whenever a family needs me. Most funerals are arranged within a week to ten days of the first call.

Can ceremonies include religious content?+

Yes. Many of my services blend hymns, prayers or readings alongside personal words. Your beliefs, your way.

Can family members take part?+

Always. Readings, music, children's involvement, candle rituals — every detail is yours to shape.

Will you write the tribute?+

Yes — every word, from scratch, after listening carefully to the people who knew them best.

Travel, communication and the small things.

Practicalities

Where do you travel?+

Across the North East and Merseyside as standard, and further afield by arrangement.

How do we stay in touch?+

However suits you — email, phone, video call or a quiet meeting at your kitchen table.

What if plans change?+

Life happens. We'll find a way through it, together, without fuss.

Do you help with speeches?+

Yes — the Personal Writing Service covers eulogies, wedding speeches, letters and tributes.
